Hello and welcome

Hello, I’m Martina and I’m an English teacher. I have been teaching English as a foreign language (EFL) for almost 15 years now. I have also been wanting to start a blog about my teaching for a very long time and it’s finally here, so welcome, dear readers!

I can almost hear you say: „There are far too many blogs  already. There is a myriad of blogs about teaching, for teachers, for English learners, blogs about the language itself, so why add another one?“ Yes, you may very well be right but, believe me, I have my reasons. These are the ones I can think of right now:

  1. my teaching practice has given me so much food for thought that I simply want to share my point of view, experience and some knowledge with my students and colleagues;
  2. sometimes there’s not enough space to deal with an interesting topic in the lesson, so I’d like to get some extra space to dedicate to such topics/issues;
  3. writing is my favourite skill and skills need (regular) practice 😉
  4. I’d like to engage in communication with other EFL teachers and exchange ideas about teaching with them (that is, provided they ever even learn about this blog and find my observations worthy of their attention);
  5. I’d also like to give my students the opportunity to practise their English more frequently while using this blog as a springboard for discussion;
  6. I love using English anywhere, anyhow and as much as I can, so why not here?

Wondering what can you expect to find here? My musings on teaching, learning, the English language as well as occasional jokes, complaints, words of praise, doubts, spelling (and other language) mistakes and inaccuracies, encouragement and enthusiasm; simply everything that comes to my mind, the mind of an English teacher.

I hope you’ll find my blog at least slightly interesting and helpful. If you have questions, comments or just want to say hi, please don’t hesitate to hit the comment button, I’ll be happy to hear from you! 🙂
